Health and Social Care is a seriously broad career path. There are some fundamental similarities across the sector, though, when it comes to the pros and cons.
Health and Social Care workers strive to make a difference to those around them, so it’s a very rewarding career path. It’s a career path that can lead to brilliant personal and professional development due to the incredible breadth of routes you might take. With the right training (which can often be completed as part of your usual duties), you could move up the career ladder quickly.
Challenges towards this career path are highly dependent on your area. If you are working in a health setting, longer hours may be expected. If you are working directly with ill or vulnerable individuals, the work may also be emotionally straining. This is particularly applicable to global events - where many care workers were under stress during the pandemic.
