Childcare and Education:
- To have high expectations for all children’s learning and development
- Support children to achieve basic, age appropriate skill throughout their duration at the setting
- Extended the children’s leaning and understanding through careful listening, skilful and open ended questioning and meaning full, in the moment observations
- Model and support high quality interaction, skilfully which extends children’s learning and thinking
- To plan, prepare and participate in a range of activities that promote both prime and specific areas of learning taken from the children’s next steps, observations and interests enabling each child to reach their full potential
- Encourage the characteristics of effective learning through children’s exploration
- Ensure the atmospheres in the rooms are calm and engaging
- Create and maintain a stimulating and welcoming environment both indoors and out which keeps children motivated and interested
- Encourage children to develop independence from an early age
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with parents and other appropriate agencies
- Provide a range of opportunities for children to learn about and question different cultures, race, values, beliefs, and disabilities to create an inclusive environment
Daily Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with parents and other appropriate agencies
- To follow policies, procedures and risk assessments
- To work in partnership and communicate with fellow colleagues to create an effective Nursery Team and be fully involved in all activities associated with the nursery, remaining professional at all times
- To assist in the organisation of registers and to be aware of staff/child ratios
- Liaise with parents ensuring that handovers are of a high quality and relevant and to deliver messages in a professional manner
- To liaise with colleagues when finishing a shift, advising them of any information that is to be relayed to parents when the child is collected from nursery
- To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and to uphold its standards at all times
- To undertake specialist tasks and duties, appropriate to the post, other than those given in the job description as determined by the Room Leader
- To assist in the daily domestic management of the nursery, ensuring that the nursery is kept safe, secure and clean at all times. Be prepared to help where needed in preparation of snack meals, cleaning of equipment, doing laundry etc.
- Take responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of the children, ensuring that their needs are met
- To clear up after activities making sure that materials and equipment are well cared for and stored properly
- To be aware and demonstrate a clear understanding of own role and areas of responsibility
- Individual Accountability
- Identify those whose practice does not comply with organisational and legal requirements, and inform the Nursery Manager
- Ensure the Nursery Manager is informed of any changes to personal details including any Disqualification with association
- Provide constructive, honest, feedback to support and encourage all staff
- To keep up to date with developments in childcare through regular training and reading as appropriate
- To demonstrate that you can read effectively and are able to communicate clearly and accurately in spoken and written standard English
- Relevant childcare experience (desirable)
