Assemblers normally work in factories and put together products before they are ready to be sold. You could assemble everything from cartons and boxes to bicycles, toys and furniture.
DAY-TO-DAY DUTIES
- Following assembly instructions; putting together parts in the right order
- Restocking supplies for your work area
- Reporting problems in the assembly process to your team leader
- Carrying out simple quality checks
- Packing goods ready for dispatch
DAY-TO-DAY ENVIRONMENT
You'll normally be based in a factory or production workshop, which may be hot or noisy. Depending on the industry, you may have to wear protective overalls, head coverings, gloves or eye and ear protectors.
You'll need
You'll need to have good attention to detail, high levels of concentration, and good team working ability for this role.
There are no set entry requirements, but previous experience on a production line or in a warehouse might be helpful.
You could also get into this job through an apprenticeship.

With experience, you could become a production line team leader, shift supervisor, or work in quality control.
